Anne Kubik: A Life in Layers of Color

Step into Anne Kubik’s apartment and you’ll find resin pieces curing on a shelf, handmade cards stacked in boxes, and diamond paintings catching the light. Creativity isn’t something Anne does occasionally. It’s part of her daily rhythm.

“I wouldn’t be able to sit and do nothing,” she says. “I have to keep busy.”

Anne has been making handmade cards for more than 20 years, carefully crafting them for family and friends. Since moving to Creekside, she has expanded her creative repertoire to include resin art and diamond painting. Decorative boxes, keychains, dishes, seasonal pieces, and preserved flowers all showcase her growing skill set.

Her resin work often includes dried flowers, carefully preserved using a sand-like drying method before being embedded in epoxy. After a fellow resident received flowers for her birthday, Anne transformed several blooms into a keepsake bookmark, a way to make the memory last.

Anne typically spends four hours each morning creating at her desk and continues working in the evenings while relaxing in her chair.

Curiosity fuels her learning. “One curious thing at a time,” she says of teaching herself new techniques.

Residents and staff often stop by to see her latest creations, and one neighbor even helps her assemble pieces when she’s deep in a project. Though she doesn’t regularly sell her work, her art is widely shared and appreciated.
